J.R. is the owner and founder of Financial Planning Hawaii and Fee-Only Planning Hawaii and the creator of the Nest Egg Guru retirement savings and spending simulation apps. J.R. is passionate about engaging and educating consumers. He has published many peer reviewed journal papers, including three award winning research papers on retirement portfolio sustainability. He has published more than hundred articles on a broad range of financial planning topics, and his commentary has been featured in nearly every major media outlet. He has twice been included on Investopedia’s Top 100 list of the most influential financial advisors in the U.S. He holds a degree in economics from Williams College and has more than 35 years of financial planning experience.
